Special 8 days Migration - the Mara River
from end of June to end of October

Day 1: ARUSHA – TARANGIRE

You are greeted by your guide before taking the road towards the Tarangire National Park.

In northern Tanzania and south of Arusha, this park was established in 1970 is today considered one of the most beautiful wildlife sanctuary in the country. It covers an area of 2,600 sq km ; an average altitude of 1,100 m and is particularly worth visiting during the months of September and October. It comprises of 9 zones of vegetation including acacia and baobab Tortillas. The Tarangire River that runs through the park never dries up and during the dry season all the animals of Maasai country come to drink from it. Several private camps and lodges located inside and outside the Park welcome visitors.

Night at the MARAMBOI TENTED CAMP in Full Board

Optionally, you may stay at the TARANGIRE RIVER CAMP (supplement of 15$/adult, 15$/child under 16, 40$/child under 12).

Day 2 : TARANGIRE - KARATU

After a morning safari in Tarangire National Park, you will take your picnic lunch on the way to the village of Karatu, located just outside the Ngorongoro Crater.

Optionally, you may stay at the PLANTATION LODGE (supplement of 50$/adult, 50$/child over 6, 75$/child under 6).

Day 3 : NGORONGORO - SERENGETI

We head for the Ngorongoro Crater and spend a day of Game Drive inside the crater.

This is one of the culminating moments of your safari. The sight of the Ngorongoro Crater is simply stunning. The caldera with a diameter of 20 km, covering a mere 260 km2 surface in a 600 m deep crater is home to a permanent population of more than 30,000 animals, a natural paradise. The few rough roads allow viewing and observing almost all the wildlife in the crater.

At 3pm, after 6 hours spent inside the crater, you head for the Serengeti (2h30 to 3h drive)

Covering an area of 14.763 km2, Serengeti is the largest and also the oldest National Park in Tanzania. It is undoubtedly one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in the world. His plains are renowned for their variety of vegetation including plains, lakes, hills and rock outcrops (kopjes) and the extraordinary concentration of animals. The view of the migration of thousands of wildebeest followed by zebras and buffaloes including their predators in search for water and greener pastures is a breathtaking experience. You will follow their tracks during the game drive.

Day 4 : SERONERA - MARA RIVER

It is possible to do a hot air balloon flight for an extra $500 per person.

At 5.00am the Serengeti Balloon Safaris company will come and collect you at your camp to take you the the departure point at Masai Kopjes. You will meet the chief pilot, you will receive a full briefing and witness the balloon inflating. Take off at sun rise, and let the wind take you... The pilot controls accurately the altitude, to sometimes be close to the treetops, offering you a unique viewpoint and endless photographic opportunities. After landing, a full english breakfast is served with champagne in the wild savannah. You will receive a certificate and will be taken back to Seronera (about 9.30am)

If you choose this option, you will leave towards our Mara River Camp after the flight. Otherwise, after a sunrise game drive and breakfast, you will head for the Northern part of the Serengeti. You will cross the great plains of the Serengeti and enjoy these beautiful savannah landscapes. Game drive on the way for a late afternoon arrival on the Mara river banks.

Day 5 : THE MARA RIVER

Day focusing on the observation of the Migration crossings, hippos and the many predators around the river and the surrounding ecosystem.

Day 6: THE HEART OF THE SERENGETI

After one last morning on the Mara River banks, lunch at the camp or on the way, as you prefer. Then you will return towards Seronera, in the middle of the Serengeti Park. Game drive on the way, and arrival in the late afternoon.

Day 7: SERENGETI - MANYARA

Morning departure to the Lake Manyara National Park. The Manyara Park is a long thin stretch of land between the lake and the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. It is Famous for its green scenery, varied bird life, especially the migratory flamingos.

Day 8 : MANYARA - ARUSHA

Last morning in the Manyara National Park. You will then head back to Arusha's Shanga River House for a last lunch.
